Manual Machinist

Overview:

The Manual Machinist is responsible for manufacturing, repairing, and modifying pump components using manual machining equipment such as lathes, milling machines, and drill presses. This role requires the ability to interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and work instructions to produce parts that meet exact specifications and quality standards. 

 

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Machine new and repair parts and components for in-house pump and compressor assemblies.
  • Set up manual lathe and mill, including tool loading and offset adjustments.
  • Adjust feeds and speeds for maximum efficiency on manual lathe and/or mill.
  • Perform machining functions such as turning, boring, facing, and threading; interpret blueprints and drawings to meet specifications.
  • Inspect and document all work to ensure compliance with engineering and quality requirements before release.
  • Submit required documentation for quality control programs and verify the accuracy and traceability of all produced parts.
  • Maintain raw material identification to ensure proper traceability throughout the manufacturing process.
  • Perform pre-start inspections of machines and equipment in accordance with scheduled maintenance programs.
  • Clean machines, tooling, and parts after use; perform minor machine maintenance when required.
  • Act as a technical resource for supervisors and management, maintaining professional interactions with coworkers and customers.

 

Qualifications (Minimum Education and Experience)

  • Journeyman Machinist certification.
  • 3+ years of machining experience preferred.
  • Experience using manual mills and manual lathes for oil field equipment.
  • Experience in using various measuring instruments for precise measurements up to 0.0005.
  • Knowledge of setting up machines and using various work holding and tooling selection.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.

HSE Requirements (Training and Physical Demands):

  • Operate primarily in a shop environment.
  • Able to sit, walk, and/or stand for long periods.
  • Lifting and/or carrying up to 50lbs on a regular basis.
  • HR/HSE Orientation.
  • Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) Training.
  • Workplace Hazardous Material Information System (WHIMS) Training.
